The FAFSA form is confusing me! I've asked my guidance couselor and she said my parents didn't need to have filed their tax returns yet, but the application keeps asking for that information. She also suggested that I just use my parents 2006 tax returns for some guesstimates. Problem is, I can't do that because my parents are now divorced and have filed their taxes separately, so my financial situation has changed drastically. I've tried googling some answers, but I can't find anything for my specific situation. Does anyone know what I should do? :(

  • This happened to me the very same way... They really want both parents' info and I could only get it from one of my parents (and the financial situation changed quite a bit.) I think we'd just estimated it (and had to follow up a bunch of times with the school afterwards.) If you know the exact school already, def. speak with the financial aid officer at the school (instead of guidance counselor at your HS.)
